This is a watershed moment for Massachusetts schools. As one of 12 states awarded federal Race to the Top competitive grants, the state’s potential to transform its education system and close the achievement gap is unprecedented. Teach For America • Massachusetts has become a central partner in this effort.

We believe that talent and leadership – two characteristics that are traditional hallmarks of Massachusetts’ education system – are the keys to progress. We also believe that if we are to fulfill our commitment to educating students in communities where the achievement gap is most pervasive, we must go where the need is greatest.  To that end, Teach For America is bringing some of our nation’s brightest leaders to Boston, Lawrence, Chelsea, Revere and Fall River.  Working with our alumni and other local leaders, we are marshaling the resources required to bring individual success stories to scale in our region, and strengthening a movement of leaders working together in pursuit of educational equity.
